No way. There's no time like the present. If you procrastinate,
next year you will feel the same way- and the year after- and
the year after that. When you're 25 or so, if you've never taken
dance, you will have realized that 12 is definitely not too old
to start (and become brilliant at it). But, if you start at 24, you
may enjoy it, but may never become brilliant.

Did that make sense?

So, I'd say that 12 is a terrific age to start learning new things.
If you like dance, keep at it. If it's not your thing, you can still
take up piano lessons, or guitar, or painting. You'll never regret
trying- but you may regret not trying.

Have fun.

Depends. If you want to do it as a profession, you might be at a disadvantage. I wouldn't recommend becoming a prof. dancer, anyways. Unless you wanna be poor, like my mother was when she decided to major in dance. [Lets just say as soon as she graduated, she went for her paralegal degree]

However, I started taking ballet at 16, and all the adult beginner class were totally full. [bear in mind, I live in a populated area]
It's something that people enjoy doing, so age doesn't stop anybody. Call up your local dance place and see what they offer. You could probably find a teen beginner ballet class.

NO NO NO!!! You can dance any time! Sacré Vache! Some of these people telling you to be "perfect' and that you are too old...GRRR...(that's REALLY good for her self esteem, why don't you just tell her she should give up! Oh wait you did!)
No, honey, you can start very late in life, if you have passion and the desire and the vision!! Many "famous" dancers began late in life. Please, little one, if you want to you can do anything! Look up info on Margie Gillis and Martha Graham...

OF COURSE NOT! even those a lot of real dancers start at the preschool age, many professional dancers have started around the ages of 15!

of course it is not to old. this is a good age for you. go ahead and dance! but remember to commit. if you can't commit, then experience won't be worth it.

hope this helps!

No I really don't think soo. Starting younger gives you more of an advantage for being a little more flexible but 12 id not to old. Have fun with it.

If you are looking to compete with others who are your same age but have been doing it for several years already, you may have some hard work ahead of you to catch up with them. But NO it is never too late to learn something that you desire to learn.

Good Luck and Best Wishes.
