I've been called stupid and a lot worse, and I usually let it go by.

Then in time I usually find that the one using demeaning words like this does something REALLY stupid.

So, I ask, does this word irritate you if someone uses it?

And, do the harsher words we hear so often today cause a reaction in you?

sometimes i say 'stupid' to someone just for fun, if they are acting silly. this word is not really used much anymore as a mean awful word.
i really dont like all the other words people use. i dont want to name them. i just think they are dirty words that mean nothing and shouldnt be directed to anyone. they are said to hurt feelings and thats not nice.

Who calls you stupid? If you are an adult and a friend or family member calls you stupid then they are in the wrong. I don't know why someone would want to make you feel bad about yourself. Being called stupid is one of the worst things a person can call another because it's so personal. No one wants to be seen as stupid or incompetent.
If someone called me stupid (like my brothers when I was little ) It didn't hurt me as much as it does now.

Remember the source and forget it. You're smart enough to realize that they're the ones needing real help, and like you said, they're the ones doing stupid things in the long run.

And here's a scenario to keep you laughing inside: PeeWee Herman always says something like "I know you are, but what am I?!" That's not Einstein work, but it turns the table on the other person and confuses them to boot, and it's meant to be rather silly. (Well, it IS PeeWee Herman.)

"Better to be thougth a fool than open your mouth and prove it"

I'll take being called a b- over being called stupid. At least I know b- fits occasionally.

One time when I was working in cellular customer service, I asked a customer a duh-question (one that the answer should be obvious), and he replied with, "Well, now you're just being stupid..."

I thought... "Now, don't go biting the hand that feeds you. We'll just see who's stupid..." and decided to not go to as much effort to help him.

Believe me- it never pays to be a jerk to the customer service person ;)

NO!! that's pretty stupid..childish..and immature if you let something as simple as the word stupid get you worked up..i mean it's just a word for Christ's sake. Get over it. and grow up. You could be called a lot worse believe me.

guy, you at the prompt are not stupid, you purely made some blunders in authentic looking all of us do - even as i replaced into youthful I went via the very similar project; i presumed that it may by no skill get more suitable useful. wager what? It did. Now i could not be happier. the project that presented me out of my down area replaced into love. Now i'm now unlikely to grant you a lecture about having faith in your self yet i will wager that in the course of the coolest things are going to get more suitable useful for you, and that i'm hoping they do. i'd be praying for you brother.

Ignore it and go on. If you let them bother you, then they have achieved their goal. Most people who use these words to hurt other people do not have the education or manners to properly handle themselves, so I wouldn't let it get to me. Remember, some of our greatest inventions were conceived by people labeled as nuts, but they never gave up until they got it right.

I am a peaceful old soul people are generally respectful to me. If someone calls me a name I just figure they don't know me and let it go the way of all things negative.

I have been called stupid and many things much more worse very often in my life. As a child it has hurt me a lot and it made me feel sad and lonely but I never showed any of it and kept it all inside. I couldn't understand that people called me bad names and chased me away and didn't allow their children to play with me because me and my family were or are from a different culture. They gave me the feeling that we were bad people and i couldn't understand us because we were always very hospitable, friendly and helpful as is common in our culture and in my family.
When I became older bit by bit I started to realize that the name calling and all the other things had nothing to do with me or who I'm but that it had and has to do with them not being able to know how to deal with me because they are or prejudiced or unable to deal with people the right way. It's a form of being powerless in dealing with everyday situations.
I don't care anymore how people call me or treat me nowadays. People are allowed to like me, they don't have to. When they call me names nowadays I don't feel sad for them calling me names or for not accepting me but I feel sad for them for not being able to face their problem(s) and taking the easy way out and not open their heart for someone else and for friendliness and kindness but for being bitter, cold and lonely inside. But it's their choice and the way they behave says something about them and not about me.

THINK WHAT U DID SO PEOPLE CALLED U STUPID AND TRY TO NOT DO THE SAME THING AGAIN. THAN ALSO SEE WHO SAID STUPID TO U. IF THE PERSON IS RELIABLE THAN TRY TO IMPROVE YOUR SELF BUT THE PERSON IS RUBBISH THAN JUST KEEP QUITE AND LAUGH.
