Even though Jackie released a lot more movies and almost killed himself doing his own stuntwork, he still never rivaled Bruce. Why?

Bruce Lee became a legend because he died when he was at, or near the top of his form.
It is hard to compete with a legend - that is why Elvis will always be the King of Rock-n-Roll, none of the Beatles will ever be greater than John Lennon, no actor will ever match the charisma and charm of James Dean or Marilyn Monroe.

Because Jackie Chan is still alive. Bruce Lee did not start receiving the respect and notoriety that he deserved in life until long after he had passed away. Another reason is Bruce Lee was the first one to teach his art to people who were not of his race, which was taboo at the time; Jackie has just been perfecting the art. I think in the future Jackie Chan will end up being just as revered as Bruce Lee.

I think Jackie Chan is in a class by himself. Far above Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was good don't get me wrong, but bruce was not an actor. While Jackie Chan is both an actor and an incredible athelete.

Bruce Lee's seriousness in his films, as well as him literally bringing the art of Hong Kong action to the world. He also died young and that creates a huge cult following. He was more about the fight, Jackie's more about the stunts and overall visuals, how cool would it be if ....

For me the the aspect of humor that Jackie Chan puts into most of his films takes away from the effect of his art. But that is just me.
