We are nations of people with different colors, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, religions and or spiritual belief systems but we all have the same things in common we are a part of humankind.

We should realize that no matter what skin color, or socio-economic situation that circumferences our lives. It doesn't take away from who we are our humanity.

In my opinion racism stems from a lack of love or the ability to express love, respect, personal ignorance, judgmental attitudes, hypocrisy's, mean spiritedness, lack of compassion, and or miss-communications.

Peace,

Hope

Yes, because racism has grown to the point that anything you say against another race, including common stereotypes, can be thought of as racist. And criticizing another race IS racist because you are making a generalization and with generalizations...there's ALWAYS an exception to the rule...or in this case, an exception to the race. Now if you criticize a person without taking their race into account, it's NOT racist.

You really should not criticize a race! By definition this type of categorization is pre-judgmental and is wrong. On the other hand, it is true that some are a bit too jumpy about even the mention of race. It almost feels like you are walking on egg shells when you deal with any topic having to do with race and this is even more wrong. I was once told by Tony Brown that I was racist "because I was white". How ridiculous is that statement? I should have told him he needs to lighten up.

Yeah, you could be called racist if you speak disparigingly of another race in blanket terms. Like people who say, "Black people need to stop being so lazy," need to stop their racist h8er8ing and learn some love. You can't criticize races because within races are a variety of individuals and cultures, and to throw a critique on every person in a group when you don't know what you're saying is highly offensive.

If you're generalizing any race, and putting them in a stereotypical group...you know that you're being a racist! If you're just making a comment about a particular thing on a particular person that happens to be of another race then of course it's not being racists, just an observation of that particular individual. But you know that... therefore I think you're looking for justification of some racists thing that you've done Right?

At that point?.......Dude I think we past that point a long time ago, and if people would find something better to do with their time (like find a job) they wouldn't have to sit around and think of ways to criticize another race...better yet why don't they sit back and look at all the things that the people of their own race are doing and then we wouldn't have racism

To criticize someone is one thing, to be prejudiced is another on an individual basis.
When this is applied to a race then:
To criticize is to find fault with.
To be prejudiced is to have an adverse opinion beforehand.
So, the fault would have to be found in a whole race of people in order to criticize that race.
An adverse opinion beforehand would have to be believed about a whole race of people in order to be prejudiced.
How can criticism and prejudice be applied (to many at one time) and be absolutely logical?

I think criticizing a race is generalization, it should be aimed at a behavior or individualized, and the race should not matter. And name calling is unacceptable under any circumstances and there is a lot of it on yahoo answers.

Well, why would you even criticise someone on the basis of their race? Since when is skin color an issue for criticism? It's not as if we choose the color of skin that we're born with.

I've been criticised for something that happened ages ago before I was even born. Goes to show how stupid people can be.
