First, don't fall for the work from home scams people will pitch you. The only people making money off of those are the people selling you their scheme. You'll make nothing or next to nothing.

Hey! You're 16. Employers are pretty much going to know you don't have any work experience. Do you have certain skills? use those to sell yourself instead of work experience. Are you a fast typist? Can you run Excel or Word really well? Are you good at gardening? Are you a strong man who can work hard? Your skills will define what you can look for. You might qualify for an part-time office job, or landscaping, or a construction laborer. If you have no special skills at all, there's always restaurant work, or retail, in which on the job training is the rule.

Also give a thought to starting your own small business. Can you design a web site? If you can, visit lots of small businesses and tell them you'll design and operate a website for them for X dollars. Can you detail cars? Then go around the neighborhoods and put little flyers on people's car windows. I'd make 3 different flyers, one for small cars, one for bigger cars, and one for big trucks and SUVs, each with a different price.

Any type of chore that people hate doing is a fertile place for a young person to open a small business.

Hi Sammy,
I don't know you at all, but as a recruiting/training specialist, I would suggest you try to find an entry level job in retail-like at a department store, video store, drug or grocery store--something like that. I hire people for marketing and sales jobs, and I always respect prior experience in retailing.

And it's not enough to just to get the job and show up--you need to show up on time every day you are scheduled, stay late if the boss asks you to stay late, concentrate on serving customers, have a positive attitude, and be willing to work hard. Retail jobs will give you great skills in dealing with people (both customers and co-workers) which will serve you well in the future.

Good luck!

Unless they have some connections, most 16 year olds start at mininum wage jobs like working as a clerk at a store or working at a restaurant. If you keep your eyes open though, you can probably find another entry level job in a field that you are interested in though. We all have to start somewhere, as you gain experience, prove yourself, and gain knowledge in a field your options will widen.

If you are a male, try getting a job as a construction site laborer. You can move materials, sweep, load trucks, and be the general gopher for all the skilled workers. Find a large non-union construction site and walk on and ask the foreman for some work. It pays good.

It depends on whether you wish to work outside the home or not.

If you wish to work outside the home, lawn mowing, paper route (pays well and you do it once or twice a day dep on how many papers your city has), grocery clerk or bagger, fast food restaurant employee (start part time and work up to full time).

If you wish to stay at home and fill out surveys and other computer offers, you can try Cash Crate. It's great and really pays.
