I have been shaving my legs for about two years now. But I have only shaved the region between my knee and my ankle. I want to shave the hair on my thighs but my mom says you aren't supposed to shave the hair there. I need a second opinion, I am always embarrassed at pool parties, so much that I almost always wear shorts. Does anyone know for sure what parts of your legs you're supposed to shave? Thanks.

My mom doesn't shave above her knee either. (She usually wears skirts below that) I shave my entire legs and arms in fact so there is no problem with it. (especially if it's embarrasing)

What do you mean you're not supposed to shave your thighs? What reason did your mom give you? It is perfectly alright to shave your full legs. What is really the point of only shaving the lower half of your legs unless you only wear capris? I would say go ahead and do it. I suspect that maybe your mom is trying to keep you modest since you won't be walking around completely bare legged (are you young?). There really are no rules when it comes to shaving, just the ones you impose on yourself.

I hate shaving! I started in 7th grade and i almost immedieatly found it exstreemly tedious! I now only have when it is necessary: swimming or skirt time. i normally only shave my bikini line and then from my knees down. It makes the hair grow in darker and thicker, so i dread shaving up past my knees in fear that it will not return it's nice thin blonde color. It is all preference, another reason why i am not in favor of shaving higher than my knees is because my thighs rub, and when i do shave higher than my knees i get terrible chaffeing! inbetween my thighs rub, and the rash is horrendous! Shaving makes the rash 100% worse when it occurs! It should be up to your mother if you respect her oppionion and you are under age, but weigh the pros and cons! Good luck!

I shave from ankles to waist. Bikini area--your call. My legs look like hairy beast legs if I don't shave. Now, I don't necessarily shave my upper legs as often as my lower legs--the hair is lighter there and doesn't grow as fast, so I might shave my lower legs a time or two before I shave my upper legs. But I keep upper and lower legs shaved pretty much all the time.

Shave from top of the thigh down to ankle line. Basically any hair on your leg that you want to get rid of.

You can shave whatever parts of your legs you feel you need to. Many times women will opt to wax the top parts of their legs if it is necessary, but if you don't want to go through the pain and/or can't afford it, then shaving or using a product like Nair would be your next best bet.

Have only ever shaved ankle to upper knee, as I've just never had hair on my thighs (I'm 26 and never even realised that women did!).

When I started shaving, my mom didn't want me to shave my upper thighs either and I too was embarrassed with bathing suits and shorts. Just know that once you start shaving your upper thigh, you'll probably have to shave frequently because it can grow back thicker & darker.. I think it depends on genetics..

Shave your thighs. Why would anyone stop at the knee? If you wear shorts or skirts or swimsuits? Why shave at all if you don't shave that area?

There is no right or wrong. Some people think if you shave above your knee the hair will grow back in really thick. I shave above my knee- probably about 8inchecs above the knee and it all grows back the same.

most girls shave from their ankle up to the top of their thighs-especially for bathing suit season! some people think that the hair might grow back differently on your thigh but that really isnt the case.
