What would you expect your country (USA) to do?

What would you expect your country to do if one day thugs from one of the drug gangs in Mexico crossed the border and kidnapped American soldiers?

I would expect us to act like a civilized nation and not start bombing the civilian infrastructure of Mexico.

Well, I'd probably say I'd expect my country to handle the situation with a high amount of prejudice and discretion. Now, if the gang had actually dug a tunnel underneath one of our military bases (As the Hezbees did to the Isreali's) and then kidnap Americans, I'd say we should turn the homeland of the gang (this would be compared to the land the Hezbees were allowed to occupy on Lebanese soil) into a giant glass bowl.

Kidnapped soldiers? From our own soil? I don't think so. Granted, things happen in times of war on foreign soil, but I have a hard time believing that some "thug" is going to be able to kidnap some of the best trained forces in the world from their own back yard.

This will not happen.To many of these so called thugs could make a dandy living in the USA. The USA is not Israel and Mexico is not Hezbollah. I feel really bad for both sides, Israel and Lebanon. None of the people in either country wanted this conflict. A select few, TERRORISTS, wanted this. They are willing to go to any lengths to cause human suffering in any form. This is why we as a country, will not step in. We should, here in the USA, know exactly the way it feels for someone to violate our country for selfish gain. They all want world recognition and to destroy all that are infidels. This includes every person in America that is not Muslim. No person in Israel wants this conflict and no person in Lebanon wants this conflict, just the terrorists.

This is the 2nd time I've read something concerning a Latin Drug Cartel.
But that will never happen, though they have guns the US is still a hell of a lot stronger than some drug lords. And we have those small groups that protect their on race to depend on, the Black Panthers and the K** and then some. Plus we are equipped with missles and they aren't. I believe.

I'd expect America to do exactly what Israel have done and worse. They had no qualms about bombing mosques in Iraq because a single terrorist might have been there, bugger the hundreds of women and children, so when they actually have a reason to be angry god knows what they'll do.

We in Britain have had similar problems, and we used a little thing called diplomacy, and even if that hadn't worked we would never have bombed places where we knew innocent women and children were.

Secure the land that the mexican government has allowed to be taken over by drug gangs so that those gangs cannot proceed with operations.

In response to bradcymru's answer, Israel has actually been very restrained for all they have to endure. Keep in mind almost every country in that area wants to "wipe them out". Just ask the "president" of Iran. You need to learn the history of the region.

i would expect them to send the FBI after the thugs and ONLY them. bribes would be a good idea, and then capture the kidnappers.

I would use the covert agents we have there to find them and get them out.

I wouldnt bomb their municipal buildings(city hall). If you do that you have started a war.
