Well, if you want to spray a stain, or something similar on an outside deck.... you do NOT want a hopper gun... those are for spraying texture on walls and ceilings.
For a deck, you can use a simple garden sprayer (that you pump up by hand)... you can buy one of these at any hardware store. Or, you can rent a paint sprayer. There are electric models, or HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) air compressor models. Either would work fine.

a hopper gun is used to spray popcorn ceilings and texture on walls. you can rent a airless sprayer for around 35.00 a day. use a 2-15 or 3-11 tip with low pressure and you can spray your deck even if it is huge in a hour or less.
