As a school-goer, I actually liked year round school better (I've been to both) because I tend to forget things over the long summer break. And you never really get tired of school, (like I was at the end of this school year. I started skipping class because I just didn't care anymore) because there are so many breaks. And home school? Ugh. No way. How would I meet people? School is like 60% social and 40% academic.

First off, in year round schools there are three tracks: A, B, and C. I was in track C and for that schedule we started school around July 1st and then the last month of the semester was November. Our vacation began late November.
I liked my schedule just because theme parks, malls, restaurants, etc. are not crowded during my vacation. I like 4months school, 2 months vaca. and then again. I usually use the 2 moths to get a job or take a 6 week class to make up requirements.
Also, I''m not sure about other schools, but at my school, the students who have many breaks in between actually do poorer on standardized tests than ppl. who have it for the whole 4 months. You don't think they'd study during breaks right?

September to May.
When I was a kid, we somehow managed to get all of the schooling done from the first week of September till the middle of May.
It could be done that way today too, but the teachers unions would not allow it!
You see, the only real reasons the school year expanded was so they could get paid for more months and make more money....all the other stuff is just BS........and who's gonna argue with "educators" because they always know best and always do the right thing, right? Right?

When I was still in school, I would have told you to suck my ba11s if you told me I was gunna have to go to year round school. Looking back on it, though, it would have actually been pretty awesome. I mean, every few weeks you get a vacation?! That's fricken sweet! I mean, summer vacation always gets boring after about a month, anyway. Kids don't know how good they have it. Wait til they grow up and only get 2 weeks out of the entire YEAR off. Anyway. Just my opinion.
