and slip into the soup kitchen if I get hungry?

Is that too sleazy?

I could I just settle for some Ramen noodles and cheaper booze, I suppose.

Any suggestions for free or really cheap meals or booze?

I need to make it last until Saturday.

Jeez...lighten up, amy. He's just jerkin' your chain.

Dude...hit up the grocery stores...sometimes they give out free samples. Tha's what I do after spending the rent money on crack and hookers.

Yes, it is too sleazy to slip into a soup kitchen for food if you have the money to buy food but choose to buy booze instead.

There is more to life than Ramen noodles though; you can get quite a few groceries for $20. Good choices would be a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, a jar of grape jelly, a box of mashed potato flakes, a few boxes of macaroni and cheese (if they are on sale 3 boxes for $1), a tub of generic margarine, cans of generic veggies (some as low a 4 for $1), a gallon of milk and a box of cereal on sale. If you probably still would have enough left to pick up one of the quart bottles of beer from the liquor store if you have bargained shopped sufficiently; personally, I would rather spend it to splurge on a 1/2 gallon of ice cream instead.

I would strongly advise against just getting the booze and going that route; you could end up still be half sloshed when you go to work the next day and totally messing up of worse yet, falling asleep on the job and your next payday will end up being your last for quite a while.

Drop your vices-- they're expensive and get in the way.
Ramen is good. For variety, get some spaghetti sauce (store brand) and make ramensketti (my name for ramen spaghetti). Or try adding bits of canned cheap corn and tomatoes. For two bucks at Save-A-Lot, I get 8 burritos. Store brand enchilada sauce and cheese turn them into enchiladas for variety. Buy cola by the two liter bottle-- it's cheaper. Eat first, then troll the store for bargains. Dry beans are usually cheap, but soak them overnight or they take forever to cook. Add store brand spices for flavor or try store brand Alfredo sauce, which gives most dry beans a special flavor you'll probably like. Hit the dollar menus if you have to eat out. Some towns, by the way, have programs where you can get a lot of food for $20 or less if you volunteer a couple of hours somewhere. Look into it. And, with your next paycheck, buy books by Amy Dacyczn. She has all sorts of ideas for eating cheap and used to put out a magazine-- the Tightwad Gazette. Hope all this helps.

Buy 2 whole chickens, milk, eggs, bread, a bag of juice oranges (they are cheaper than regular and good), and a large bag of frozen peas. You can make a lot of meals around that. You could also live on homemade chili for several days. Forget the booze, it's too expensive and doesn't solve anything. Good Luck!

People are strange...stranger than me...but hey..the fact that you can afford to be sitting around using a computer talking about how poor you are shows that your need for booze or food is merely a personal choice...you do have a paycheck coming so hey man...do whatever makes you feel better...we all need some way to escape this crazy world once in awhile....Peace ....

Do the right thing, give it to charity, get another job, and lay off the booze. Don't go to a soup kitchen, that if for the real needy....not the nerdy.....

Compromise.

By two Colt 45, OE's or whatever you have for 8% Malt Liquor (even if tastes bad, it'll still give ya the buzz)

AND

Buy like some noodles, bread and jam or something...

Win/Win if you're on your last $20.

How about taking that 20 bucks and giving it to me. After all if you keep going on the same path your on now, you be dead in a few years and you really won't need it then.
