Both are masters of The Western but are they comparable who do you prefer ?

I prefer Clint Eastwood and yes they are comparable. Don't get me wrong John Wayne was a great actor in Westerns but Clint just beats him for me.

I would say Clint Eastwood but John Wayne is also great to watch

True that John Wayne was like a pioneer of western movies but Clint is awesome in every movie he seems more fit for a hard core cowboy but wayne was fat and lzay loooking ...bothe exceptional actors but clint is one hard core mo fo when it coems to westerns

I prefer most of Eastwoods early movies, over Waynes early movies. But I prefer Waynes later movies over Eastwoods later movies. Eastwoods early movies were intense. As he got older, his movies became boring and predictable. The opposite is true for Wayne.

Clint Eastwood!
Though, it is agreed that both were masters of their art.
I really enjoyed the performance by Clint Eastwood in 'Escape from Alcatraz'.
I am aware this isn't a Western (typical of his roles) - but - this proved to me that his acting ability is quite unlimited and he can apply himself to all characters and situations given.

They're even in my mind in terms of talent.
Wayne was the better actor, had a bit more range (though neither has much) but Eastwood is the better director.
In the history of Hollywood, John Wayne will probably go down
as the bigger star, simply because he was THE icon for many of his generation, whereas Eastwood was one of many for his.

Clint Eastwood, by far- "do you feel lucky, punk?" and he was the best in the good the bad and the ugly- what a classic film. The director, Sergio Leone, only directed 7 films, most had Clint in them, and they were all superb!!!

It has too be clint!!!! Besides, in my experience, ask most film fans, the could most probably tell you a few clint film titles, but, john wayne, the will stuggle, plus you mention about their westerns, well both are famous for their war films as well, and they both made thillers!!!

Clint is King but Wayne is wonderful as well. However Clint is in the lead for me.
