Ortega knew, a long time ago, the forecoming of emo people. Disenchantment with the industrial revolution, collapse of traditional western values, etc. caused it. WWII, existensialism and rock music are the symptoms. He also knew it was not to be taken as a problem, but as an opportunity. Well, not as an opportunity, but as a point of departure. What do you think? At the very least, our culture and philosophers should take cultural phenomenoms like emo people more seriously, cause its happening, (and its been happening for a while now),

Teenagers have been rebelling against "the system" since the beginning of civilization. So don't take yourself so seriously...

Go rent the movie SLC Punk. Watch it RIGHT to the very end - and then you'll get it. The way to change the system is not to rebel against it, but to LEARN it - then change it from the INSIDE. It was my job when I was your age (and we did make things better for you, believe me... women have some rights now...) Now it's your turn. Go for it!

If Emo is defined as "emotional people" - the direction of humanity is probably further movement away from this model. This is mitigated principally by cults, religion, and science. On the other hand, the management of the masses does require emotional induction, i.e. emo people are easier to manage by the elites. Nevertheless, the elites themselves try to move away as far as possible from this.

what are you TALKING about? are you tryin to say that for the first time since the 60's there's a chance for popular music to bring about positive change on a widespread scale?

if so, maybe you could articulate more. what exactly are the opportunities presented by this fashion and music trend? do you really know that many people who are not using it simply as a style - as a means of giving them an in to a group identity so they don't really have to be individuals?
