When I was your age, me and my friend started our own business. We went door to door (only go to neighbors that you know) and asked them if they wanted to hire us for odd jobs. Let them know upfront how much the job would cost. We mowed some lawns, weeded gardens, strightened out cabinet cuboards that an elderly woman couldn't reach, took down curtains ans washed windows and also ran errands using our bikes to pick up little things at the store. You could make a flyer on a computer and list some things you could do and make some money. You'd be surprised at how many people need little jobs done and there is nobody around to help them. Use your imaginations and I'm sure you'll come up with even more ideas.

I've heard that Burger King hires at 14. But trust me, if you don't have to work, don't. Wait until you are about 16 or 17 to get a real job. Unless you're basically supporting yourself and your parents do nothing for you and don't feed you, just wait a few years and enjoy being young. And if you just want spending money to go to the mall, just baby sit every once in a while. Don't get hired by a business that tells you when you work because trust me at that age you will get tired of it quick and it will not look good to future employers that you quit the first week.

Be a pet caretaker. Advertise or post notices in public places about your services. Feed, clean up after and play with pets while owners go on vacation. People don't like to have to pay a lot to vets to care for their pets, plus pets are happier in their own home. You must have good references so people will trust you to come into their home while they are gone. You can also collect their mail and newspapers while they are gone. Charge $8-12 per visit. Vets cost much more.

When I worked at McDonald's, the youngest employee was 13. She worked part time, got a free meal each day and had a guaranteed job there the next year. She put the money towards her education.

Not many places will hire a 14 year old, so try baby sitting. That's what I'm doing.
