You are at the first hard part in this process now. You must overcome the thoughts in your head that what you are writing is not right or good enough. You can always edit or throw away pages later. But first you must get words down.

Write the most exciting opening you can. Then start putting your characters through their paces. Nothing can be easy in their world because novels are based on conflict.

There are two types of conflict, internal and external. Internal is the emotional conflicts and external is the conflicts found in the world your characters live in. You need a big dose of both in your story.

Once you have your opening then write the next logical scene that would follow. If what you write does not sound perfect- Don't Stop! You must keep putting words on the page. You can fix it up later.

Best of luck with your first novel. It can be hard but, also, a lot of fun to write a novel. This is your chance to make a world filled with anything you want. So get to it!

Well, always begin your story with a great opening sentence that captures the attention of your readers. Something that doesn't give away the story but hints at a matter of importance that might occur in the story. Secondly make sure your opening paragraph talks about the overall theme, mood, scene, and emotion of the characters involved. Generally to keep interest, authors introduce the main character/characters and introduce their readers to the main person they will learn about. However this can depend on the genera of your story, IE: bibliography, fiction, non-fiction.....Hope this helps you, I know this is always what I go by when writing my stories! Good luck!!!

I would just start writing anything about the characters or the settings, or the antagonist. that will give you a kinda start. it doesnt nessecarly have to be in the book or important to the plot it will help you understand where your book is going. Just let the pen fly off the page that's when i do my best writing. Also create a list of how the character acts how does he/she act around the opposite sex, does he/she have a nervous scratch, what are his/her hobbies, how does he/her act when mad, how tall is he/she, weight, what is he/she made fun off from, why does she act the why she is, etc. that will give you a strong foundation.

Pick up the pen and go. I have a feeling that in your case the writer s block may be a monumental excuse to sit back and relax. This novel will not write itself by itslef

First of all, there's no such thing as writer's block. It's a myth created by procrastinating writers to explain their inability to produce writing to their editors. Secondly, you've asked one of the great questions. Start with the characters. What do they look like, how do they act?

You don't have to start writing the beginning of your story first, just start describing things and see what happens. You can always write the beginning later.

I too am writing a book, mine is a sci-fi. I found the best way to start is to accually start writing, just anything about your book. Once you get started you can change the order of what is first , on page one. I thought i had what i wanted to start as an opening but after getting started i changed my mind, so basicly just start writing it might be the middle or the end but just write down everything and later, you can deciede what scene to open the book with,.....hope this helps...

Do the work!!!

Anyone can think up a novel, but it's actual work to put sentences together to form something people want to read. Sit down and start typing!!!

write, write, write... even without thinking too much of it. you may, for example, plan to write 10 pages/day. it is a bit too much, i know, but it would make you understand yourself better. then read the text aloud, trying to find a single rhythm of the whole, changing words, phrases, etc. if necessary.
