Definately I think respitory problems are a major concern - particularly as a horse owner, whose horse was only diagnosed with this at 17 years of age!!! Poor creature is miserable out at grass away from dust etc!!!
Also lymphangitis is another problem that Im encountering more and more recently - can anyone explain how infections can lie dormant for years and then reoccur and impossible to clear the swelling!?
Also TENDONS!!!! The bain of my life - my best showjumper was diagnosed with a torn tendon this year - how she got it is beyond me - shes practically kept in cotton wool!!!!
And of course the most interesting research of all when it comes to horses is - HOW THE HELL DO VETS JUSTIFY THEIR PRICES!!!!!!!!

Maybe some research into the herbal remedies for horses. I feed my horse Wendells Stop Itch and for some reason he does not get rain scald when Im feeding it to him. This year however during Spring I did not feed it to him and he got extremely bad rain scald - neck, shoulders, legs, ears, nose, back. I began to give it to him again and it cleared up like magic! No idea why. Obviously something in the herbs but if if it could be narrowed down to a specific plant perhaps more could be done, especially for those afflicted with sweet itch. I am an Equine Sports & Healing Massage Therapist and teacher as well as a student of Equine psychology. I have always found the subject of the domestic horse versus the natural horse a fascinating subject with many choices of individual studies on offer.
Please feel free to email me at any time.
All the best to you.

i used a study based on the incidence of stereotypical behaviour in a group of polo ponies for my dissertation. A simple study can work in your advantage as it is more easy to control the variables & explaine anomalies with your statistical annalysis. Why not investigate how different living conditions can affect the behaviour of the same group of horses?

UC Davis, Cornell, OSU, UGA, U Penn.....all have sturdy equine vet classes. some are a lot more effective than others, yet seem into all of them to work out what might want to fit you perfect. a number of those are more durable to get into and bigger severe priced, like Cornell. yet OSU and UGA have large classes and may want to provide you with an magnificent coaching with somewhat a lot less fee. you may want to like a higher college like UC Davis, or a smaller one like OSU. All are issues to consider. you want to pass to the faculty that promises you with the perfect coaching interior the perfect area for YOU. sturdy success!

West Nile and all the ways that a horse can get it. My horse died from West Nile and it would be cool to see more research done on it.

I'd agree with respiritory problems, especially dust allergy.
Also, why do bone spavins sometimes re-grow while other times surgery is successful?
Sweet itch and rain scald.
