I have never trusted the Power saver because there are times where the computer won't wake up!
You can check these settings by right-clicking on your desktop. Then click "Properties".
Click on Tab "Screen Saver"
Check the screensaver. Choose soemthing easy like scrolling marquee
Check "Power" and see what the settings are for the power save. You might elect to disable this by selecting "Always On"
Try that. and see if it fixes the situation. If it does, change the settings back and see what it does. Use process of elimination

Not much to go on, but... Have you recently opened a "PowerPoint show" file? It would have a .pps extension, not .ppt. This matters because 'show' files are for unattended operation, like at a kiosk, displaying a slideshow or the like. In a show situation, you don't want the PC going to sleep or having the screensaver kick in because of inactivity.
The problem is that .pps files turn off the screensaver and don't turn it back on. You need to do it manually after closing the .pps file.
