Driving my car and it stalled and smelled like gas, so I pulled over and tried to start it up again but it didn't want to turn over, and I smelled more gas so I got out of the car and saw gas coming out from under the VW. It is coming out when I push on the gas pedal, and I don't think gas is getting to where it is suppose to go so it won't start. What is wrong?

Several points could cause this. You can best determine my locating where the gas is dripping from. Possible causes are:

1) Mechanical Fuel pump - Most older mechanical pumps will leak fuel once their diaphram wears out. The pump will be located on the engine bock and ususally close to the crank pulley.
2) Fuel Line - a cracked or broken fuel line will leak of course.
3) Carborator(2) - if the carb has been damaged or fuel or vacumn lines blown off due to a back fire, it can leak fuel.

You just need to trace back where the fuel is coming from and then go from there. I really suspect is #1 above.

Good luck!
