So after reading all these answers, it must be the person who's looking at the plant that decides. If you like it, it's not a weed.

A weed is a plant that generally takes advantage of disturbed soil, usually has really good reproduction skills, and is considered undesireable by a gardener.
Individual speices are weeds for some, but not others.

I wish I knew! My neighbors keep telling me to pull out my oxalis on the hillside because it is a weed, but it is a flower to me. And, you can even find it in nurseries and the Sunset Western Garden Book! I think they consider it a weed because they can't grow anything on their slopes!

Seems to me that a weed is anything that grows easily and quickly so that we have to work hard to get rid of it. The things that aren't weeds don't grow easily and we have to work hard to maintain them. It's all about making things as hard as possible on ourselves!

A plant considered undesirable, unattractive, or troublesome, especially one growing where it is not wanted, as in a garden.
The gardener is the one to decide which are weeds and which aren't.
