Plants will always be "affected" in some way by heated and cooled air indoors, mainly because of the fact that both keep the humidity low. But they won't necessarily die, just go into some form of inactivity.
Somehow, typical office plants seem to cope best with indoor conditions
A more favourable environment would be a "sunroom" or "conservatory", preferably built towards the southeast side.

In the center of a room with a sunface window. Like say your dinning room has a window and recives natural (direct) sunlight. Put it as a center piece on the table and it should be good to go.

The only ones that are still living are on the countertop next to the sink(easier to water that way). There is a northern facing window there so they get enough light.

you can put bamboo in the bathroom and it will be fine, or you can just put them on a plant stand where ever you want away from the vents and windows
