In the Astrology world, we don't know the exact reason why the planets, signs, houses and aspects "work" the way that they do.
We know from 1000s of years of research, back to the days of Babylonia, that they each have their own characteristics and modes of expression.
One of the attributes of air signs and in particular, Aquarius, is detachment or sometimes also called coldness. That can be a positive and negative characteristic depending on the situation.
How much detachment is present in a chart will be determined by house much air is present, how many planets in Aquarius, the placement and aspects to Uranus, and the 11th house activity. You also need to assess the charts "angles" Asc, MC, Des and IC for Aquarius and other air signs.

I am an Aquarius and, for me, sometimes I do feel "detached". Why?
I do not know. I guess I like privacy and I do like being alone at times. I enjoy the solidarity. Sometimes I do not like being in the "in" crowd; I like being by myself. I like to go to the park and just people watch. That is just the way I am. Because I am so use to being by myself and doing things by myself that being around other people makes me in adequate, whether it is family or not. There are only some people I can really let myself loose around, but, they have to win the trust of an Aquarius to really let that person know exactly who you are. We keep things bottle up to ourselves.

Aquarians have strong emotions, can feel passion intensely and can be extremely loyal partners. However, to be able to bring this side of them to the surface you have to make them trust you and admire you. And for that to happen, you have to win their “mind”, stimulate them mentally and prove your loyalty. But above all you have to learn to respect their need for independence. If you do not win an aquarius’ mind, you cannot win his/ her interest either and your little aquarius will shrug –as he/she characteristically does- and walk away, since he /she prefers to be alone rather than being with people who bore them or try to control them. What you call detachment, I’d rather call self-defense. However, once you really got them, you got them for life honey! They can be the most loyal partners with the right person on their side. I am one of them! Experience talks! :)

I don't think we're detached. Others think that. We are deepthinkers and then get to the point,sometimes too quickly. Diplomacy is not one of our(my) strong points. When we love , it is forever and we never hate or seek revenge.I've made my Cancer husband crazy many times with my attitude for the last almost 40yrs.

thats is their nature try a cancer or a pieces if your into emotions. blanced signs are capricorn,sage,and libra.
