Well congratulations on being a rounded, well adjusted sensible person. Now that you have slapped yourself on the back and have reflected on how sad it must be for lesser mortals, think awhile.
What a boring old dungheap life would be if everyone was the same.
Most people also know that the chances of winning are minuscule but then that's the rub - as long as you are in the game, you may win it!
Don't begrudge others a bit of fun, it's their money, they can do with it what they wish!
P.S. Now that you have saved a lot of money, what are you going to do with it? Money, at the end of the day is only a medium of exchange!

As games go, it's not much fun...just handing over a quid for a (probably) worthless bit of paper - I get more fun and value from buying a return ticket on my local bus into town. I think there are 2 primary motivations for participating in the lottery; greed and desperation, both of which are fuelled by an astounding misjudgement of the laws of probability, either due to mathematical incompetence or deliberate self-deception.

I haven't bought any tickets for a decade.
How much lottery advertising do you see? Who buys tickets regularly and who can avoid buying any? Do you see any video lottery terminals in your area? How does the lottery change lives and things? And how much tax is there on your winnings?
Lotteries are like caffeine and nicotine: highly addictive and not easy to beat.

People don't generally understand the statistical probability of winning. I have a relative who spends $500/week on tickets and has for at least 20 years. He could have invested at least have that money and made a "jackpot" by now. I guess it's hard to let go of a dream. ;-0

Yes, but there is a chance.
Haven't you ever dreamed of what you would do with all that money?
Look at all the good you could do. For yourself, your family, friends, strangers. I would have a blast.
