I want them out of my garden, and I have this vague idea that if I flush them down, I will not kill them but they have a chance on survival in the sewers. I hope so anyway.
What do you think?

Naked snails? Do you mean slugs?

If you don't want to kill them, place copper pipe or coils of copper wire around the plants you want to protect from them. Slugs don't like copper. They also don't like rough surfaces like broken eggshells that can cut their skin.

As for flushing them, they can drown and might clog the pipes and cause you more trouble than it's worth.

These disgusting creatures are called slugs.
There are a lot of things that supposedly keep them away, like sauces of beer in the garden.
Sorry...hand picking them off the ground and plants works best.
If you are thinking of flushing down the toilet, put them on a paper plate and pour salt on them...they just dissolve. I know this seems horrible, but to me it was always payback for all the garden plants they distroyed.

Try placing slabs of wet cardboard near your garden beds. Look under them at sunrise. Take nude snails and cardboard, place in trash bags and send to the dump. They'll be very happy there.
