A couple of ideas:

Bad or insufficient power supply? Not supplying enough power to the computer system, so it shuts down.

Overheating? If it gets to hot and things start to overheat, they could shut down. Does it start back up after cooling down for a while? If so, more internal fans or better ventilation may be necessary.

The best way to help b/c this is likely a virus is to get into "safe mode" and then run your virus scanner. To do this:

1. Hit the F8 key before windows boots up and hit enter when it asks if you want to boot in safe mode.

2. Run your anti-virus program. *in safe mode windows will look a bit weird but it's normal.

3. Restart and hopefully your problem is solved.

**If your virus scanner sucks (i.e. mcafe) download the avg virus scanner for free from http://www.grisoft.com/ it saved my comp before when no other virus scanner worked!

4) a recent install of a program that is incompatible with either Windows or your hardware
5) incompatible hardware
6) bad hardware
