This is part of the subject of my first book:

When I lived in the Bronx, New York, and traveled to Manhattan via the elevated subway, around 1959 I began seeing signs written on roofs that said: "BEWARE 1960" , or "WORLD WILL END IN 1960".

Then I questioned what it was all about and found out that it was a prophesy of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Today, many members of this religious group that practices everything based on the Bible, don't remember this.

I address this question to the older generation, but the younger ones can answer if they care.

Since 1960 we've had many mysterious events that haven't been resolved, and if you can add it all up, it appears (in the least) that a shift occured in the way we now live.

However, you be the judge of this.

You decide, Did the world (we knew) end in 1960?

I think as they knew it, probably. !960 was a big turning point in americas history. Drugs and "flower power" and other things where shoved in the faces of all our population and compaired to the more conservitive times of the 40's-50s I can see how they thought the world was ending. There was a new freedom to the 60's and all the kids wanted was to get high which was unheard of before then

The world will never end. I am sure there are things in that era that ended or changed. I am sure that is has had an impact on the way we live life now. Things have gotten bigger and more advanced since then, it seems as if we are searching for an easier and quicker way to live and to survive. You also have to remember that there are alot of people who have tried to predict the end of the world and have claimed to be the Christ. But I believe that when the time comes for those things to happen you will know. God said that no man shall no the day nor the hour of his return . But we will let us know when he has left the earth. The bible gives us prophecies to try to help us wait for his return to earth. A few of those prophecies are a one world government and a antichrist who will bring world peace. There is also the mark of the beast in the hand or forehead. They have a microchip they are putting in peoples hands now to use for an indentification device. I have never seen the Jehovahs Bible , but I do believe that their beliefs are seperate from Christians. In the end it will be revealed who was right about what with what happens.

I'm not sure about 1960 but for a lot of people 1962 was a turning point in their lives. The assassination of JFK and the death of "Camelot" changed the way the Babyboomer Generation looked at life.
When it comes to Religious prophesies, I tend to take them with a grain of salt.
I think each generation has it's own paradigm shift. For some it's a Religious prophesy or the death of a President or even the death of a musician.

Sure, a lot of changes have taken place since 1960, but the world didn't end. Where did all those black and white t.v.s go and old black telephones? I was just a kid then and the biggest event of the day was American Bandstand so I could watch the older kids dance. I still had a tire swing and climbed trees. I don't know how I got along without my cell phone. :)
