Buying a new home verses a re-sale is a huge question.
You need to understand the real estate market in your area...
Ask yourself some questions. Is the area for the new home desirable, is the builder reputable, is the lot a prime lot. Do you care about the schools and the amenities...shopping, library, parks. Where does the sun rise and set according to where your house is situated. How does that affect you. Do you have cold winters and less sun than in the summer, therefore do you want sw exposure for wintertime.
New homes let off gasses. I am no expert but I understand it takes about 15 years for the home to gas-off. These gasses are not the best for your health. Older homes can have mold problems (my home was built in 1920) and rotted wood etc...
All homes, new or older have repairs. Some homes are not built well and need repairs the first year. That is why it is important to research the builder/developer.
Where I am re-sale homes are very desirable, and new homes are cheaper. In a few years that could change completely.
Your house/property is an investment as well as your home. You need to place a value on how important the investment is verses how you will make the house your home. Is it important to you that the investment go up quickly or slowly.
Good Luck to you.

It just depends on what you are looking for in a house. New houses are actually less expensive, generally because the house has not had time to appreciate in value. As time passes, the value of a house rises due to the maturation of the yard and area around the house. Newer houses can be better if you want to personalize your house, and it allows you to know the entire history to the house. However, older houses have a more classic look and can be in a mature, established neighborhood. Depends on what you really want from your houes, or where you want it to be.

Newly built homes have up-to-date materials and better insulation than some older homes and being newer it will be awhile until things start wearing out and falling apart. No matter what home you get things will always need fixing. With the new homes the landscaping is new and sparse and the chemicals of the new materials in the home will gas out for awhile (i.e. new carpeting) and can make the occupants sick at first. The new homes are worth it but they lack the class and style of homes in established neighborhoods.

Is a Newly house built better then an older existing home? That would really depend on the builder. If you have a specific builder in mind, you may want to ask for some reference. You may also want to ask family/friends what they may have heard about them (word of mouth).
New construction does allow you the flexibility to customize which for some is a major selling point. You may want to check with your local realtor as taxes do tend to be higher on new contruction properties.
What is a good investment? Solid home with features and of course location, location, location.

In ways yes. Old home crack and need more repairs but new homes have a nice new scent but building costs are expensive.
