As far as jobs go, the opportunities are basically the same for both a Masters or MBA in Finance. The reason is because both include enough finance classes to say you're well trained.

The essential difference between a Masters and an MBA is that the Masters is more focused in your subject area. So a Masters in finance would include more finance classes than the MBA.

By contrast, the MBA gives you broader training in areas outside of finance, such as management, marketing, accounting, etc.

Which is the better way to go? It all depends on what you want to do, but quite honestly, it really doesn't matter as both are widely accepted. The KEY is that you have a graduate degree.

I'm sure you can do anything finance related: banking, corporate finance, etc. It probably differs in that a MofF studies only the finance discipline. An MBA in Finance is focused in finance, but more well rounded with classes in economics, marketing, accounting, organizational behavior. An MBA is more marketable in my opinion and more sought after by hiring companies.
