On 9/10/60 Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees hit a ball 643 feet in Tiger Stadium off Paul Foytack, He also hit several in Yankee Stadium that came within less than 2 feet of leaving the park..

I believe it's Mantle, who hit one in Washington 565 feet. Rumor was that one he hit in Detroit went 643 feet.
Then again, the one Poo Holes hit in Houston last year in the playoffs could have gone into orbit if it hadn't hit the wall behind the left field stands.
