If you put up a shade on the moon, you will cool off immediately because there is no atmosphere to transfer the higher temperature to you. So yes, with a shade, you could mine all you want. I'm sure we will go digging up there some day. But it won't be worth while until the cost of going there comes down.

On the sun side the moon reaches about 200 degrees fahrenheit
On the dark side is drops to about -200
