BIG emergency, such as we were nucked or a large scale natural disaster, would you feel bad that other countries closed their doors to us, because they might accidently let in a child molester or murderer?

I Feel very sorry for all the poor people who go through, what all they have to go through, to get to this country. It must be so frightening. I pray for their safety and a better life for them. Many die in this heat. I see it on the news everyday. It's just terrible and a form of slavery. If someone takes them in to work for them, they should actually help them and take care of them paying all full salaries and benefits including health insurance. I don't know why more people don't think like I do.
I live a 4 hour drive from Mexico. I have often thought about what I'd do if we got into a situation where all I could do is walk down the beach until I got to Mexico. Would the Mexican Red Cross or local people be there to welcome me as I was there to welcome the Katrina evacuees that were brought to our Island last September? I would think the Mexican people would help me because they are wonderful, religious, family oriented people who would not judge me by my "white" color.
I don't understand why the rich & powerful slave owners aren't the ones in trouble. I guess because they are rich and powerful. I will never believe that there are not illegal immigrants on the ranch that Vice President Chaney was hunting on that day, just because of the location and knowing a little of how things are done down that way. The media never answered that angle of the story. Rich and powerful again. The innocent always suffer because of them.

Perhaps I can provide some remotely intelligent commentary on the other side of your rhetoric.

You see, the difference between the scenario which you have provided us with and the current policy dillema in the United States, is that we are not talking about a hypothetical temporary dislocation due to a catastrophic, unforseen event (although I cannot think of any that would be of a sufficient scope to force refugees from affected areas out of the country), but rather a systemic, nation wide problem of some 11 million illegal aliens. I believe you will be hard pressed to find any rational human being who is opposed to immigration to the U.S. After all, we are a nation of immigrants to begin with. However, there is a legal process which our nation requires one to go through in order to do this. We institute this process for a variety of reasons which I would be happy to enumerate in detail in a follow up if you are interested, but the general gist of why we do that is so that only those who truly wish to become productive, integrated, law-abiding members of American society can do so. My parents were immigrants, my best friend is a first generation immigrant, my girlfriend is a first generation immigrant. All of them worked hard through the proper channels to come to this country. Everyone else who wants to live here can too.

It doesn't matter how I feel of what they think..if things get too bad here I'm jumping the border to Canada!

But truthfully, If we were nuked or if there were a natural disaster large enough to make the entire US uninhabitable, then I don't really think there will be much of a world left to run to.

I think immigration is fine and dandy as long as the immigrant passes all the tests and procedures required to become a legal citizen of the chosen country.

Being that's not the immigration issue, the question is rather limited. Our concerns are not if we get their child molesters and murders or even their drug peddlers - we have plenty of our own and we know we get theirs too, the issue is a more personal one - as, why do I, a citizen, have to beg, plead, and wait until my husband is within range of death to get him disability that he has paid into his whole working life - but if he were an immigrant he could have had within 30 days few questions ask? The Social Security worker showed me this law as I pleaded. why do I, a citizen, have to pay taxes on my income, learn my native tongue, follow my laws, and be loyal to my country and its ways, but if I were an immigrant, not have to follow any of these AND get to place demands upon the very country I am illegally being in or even if legally working in, but not desiring to be a citizen in, choose to abandon all that country offers because I only want their paycheck, not their ways? That is the heart of the immigration issue.

To follow your scenario, one if nuked, there would be no need to go to any other country, I would already be in heaven. A large scale natural disaster could leave me needing a place to live and it would be sad that I could not find one because of how our Nation has perceivably treated others; however, history shows that no other nation, has ever taken in and built its whole foudation on the mere principal of diverse people coming together to form A people - why do we all of a sudden feel we need to revert back to being diverse people?

The main reason people migrate is generally in search of a better life. Now i ask you why do people not organize here in USA or anywhere in the world to take control of Money/Power/Wealth where ever their native too! Always the majority are without control yet they as people act like meek animals for herding and fleecing by the few Sheppard's? Natural disasters can happen anywhere at anytime not a controlling immigration factor or solution!

Noone is anti immigration.

The issue isn't immigration because when it is done lawfully everyone benefits.

The issue at hand is illegal immigration, which is defined as someone entering the USA illegally, outside of the law, committing a crime to get here.

Illegal immigration hurts ALL nations wherever it happens, USA, France, Canada, England, India, where ever.

We have too many Mexicans and Latinos here draining our economy already. They breed like cockroaches and once they're in you can't get rid of them. If you hate the way we look at the dirty bastards coming here then you can go to Mexico or South America and live with their relatives since you love them so very much.

I'd choose Ireland, they wouldn't turn me down. They also stay the f*ck out of every other nation in the world's business.

first at all i can't believe the ones saying they would not feel bad if they were not helped by anyone in case of need , to me that is just not logic .

i also would like to remind to everyone that 9-11 proved that it is possible that America could suffer a terrorist attack in the future , therefor they should not think in 'that could never happen to us' .

i also would like to remind them that the millions of immigrants who work every day all over America did not had anything to do whit that happening .

in my opinion America should be more comprehensible of the reality of the world and should not forget how it has benefited from the most poor , everyone in this country ( America ) depends of the work from those who work in the farms , who work in the hotels , who built their roads everyday and as show after Katrina and September 11 just because of their need are not afraid to expose themselves to the dangers of being and working in those places .

Would I feel bad? Heck no. The USA is my country. Mexico is not. Even if my country is nuked and nothing but a dump, it's still MY COUNTRY and if I don't like the way things are I work to change them, not run to someplace else and suck off their teat.

I have been against illegal immigration, not all of it. We are a nation of laws and some of those laws are set by precident. If we break one law (the waiting list). It sets up the possibility of breaking others. Which will it be?
