When I worked at McDonald's, there were many things I would've preferred not doing. But I knew when I accepted the job that clean up was a part of it. And I didn't consider my boss's request unreasonable. I was getting paid for it.
Unless there is a valid reason you can't clean the bottom shelves, I say stop complaining and do the job. I worked 4 hours a day too. That's no excuse. You are expected to do the job you are paid to do and clean up after. That's the way it is in the real world work force.

If you get an assignment to do a certain amount of work in a certain amount of time and you don't think that's feasible, discuss it with the person that gave you the assignment. Make sure you are in agreement about HOW the job is to be done. For something repetitive like this have them watch you do it the way you think it should be done for a few minutes and ask if that is what they intended? Maybe your standard for a job well done is higher than theirs. Also try timing yourself for a subset of the job (like one aisle) then do the math and recommend an amount of time over which you believe you can complete the entire job.
One idea we use with customers is that when they want something there is time, cost, and quality. They can choose 2 then we will tell them what the third is going to be.
Fast + High Quality = Expensive
Fast + Cheap = Poor Quality
Cheap + High Quality = Slow

First of all it is probably a stupid job for him to assign.
You can't stop the boss from telling you something like that which you consider crazy and he may be doing it to be abusive but that would be nearly impossible to prove.
You must realize that he probably doesn't like you so he's trying to get you to quit so he won't be accused of being descriminatory and so his company will not have to pay you unemployment benefits. Other than that, you must realize that he is playing a power trip on you.
You can accept him as your boss--no matter how crazy and stupid his ideas---and do what he says to do:
1. Grumbling and angry and making it worse for yourself OR
2. Cooperatively and cheerfully to the best of your ability so that he can't have a leg to stand on to criticize you with if you don't get the job finished in the limited time you have. (but you really have to try to do it) And if you do get it done you may even get along better with him.
OR your other alternative is to give him your two weeks notice.

If it is your job to clean, then do what your boss tells you? Even if it's not your job, it comes under the catagory of ..."and other duties as required." Do your job and quit bitching.
Your boss is your boss. He knows more than you do. He is paid more than you are. That's why he's the boss and you have to do what he tells you to do.

Your boss telling you to do a job at your workplace is not crazy, nor abusive. It's called work for a reason; generally, because you have to do work.

Well, someone's got to do it. Since he's the one signing your paychecks, it isn't going to be him.
