I'd venture that most liberals are more prone to actual reasoned, educated opinions than going with their gut! What's bizarre about this statement is that it totally discounts personal feelings and gut instincts, as if that's a bad thing in some circumstances. For instance, my gut feeling when I first heard of George W. Bush was ICK. When did research and found out more about him, it confirmed my total disgust. Therefore, my concept and opinion is both my own gut feeling as well as educated reasoning.

I agree, people should form their own opinion based on fact. Some things though are not fact based and are based on moral or religious beliefs so facts have little influence. So if you think abortion is wrong, no facts are going to change that if you're willing to live with the "perceived" effects (facts) that come about.
That said, people take facts that are convenient to their position and use them. Statistics don't lie but liers use statistics.
And, with a great many things are so complex that I think any cause-and-effect one can derive is quite often suspect (e.g. there's no control group to test the theory when it comes to many things)

Right, and wrong is what I base my opinions on. It is wrong to steal, but is right to give to your fellow man. I have lived my life under the concept of right and wrong and I do try to assess all the issues before I decide which side I am on.

Its 80% faith and soundbytes. 20% thinking.
Both for liberals and conservatives.
There are reasons for having leanings one way or the other.
Mostly rich folks are conservative, mostly poor people are liberals.

"Oh, my, you have such a cute liberals. Does it do any tricks?"
