women's studies pl.n. (used with a sing. or pl. verb)

An academic curriculum focusing on the roles and contributions of women in fields such as literature, history, and the social sciences.

I think they ought to have a 'Men's Studies' section also.

The questions asked at this section crack me up. What on earth does Paris Hilton have to do with Women's Studies? :-)

Well. Look where you are. Yahoo.

In the meanwhile, go curl up with some Simone de Beauvoir, Sor Juana Inez de la Cruz, orSimone Weil. Or something like that.

You're a candle in the night. Only this night is long and cold, and we're a far far way from Amazonia.

I'm afraid a men's studies section would attract the same sort of questions...

the interdisciplinary nature of women's studies makes it difficult to stick it one category, I guess - and as it should be.

Thanks for pointing this out, though, for any uninformed yahoo-ers.

Finally - someone who actually knows what 'womens studies' are... I agree totally with you. Where are all the interesting academic discussions? Oh.. I forgot.. the 'women studies' section in Yahoo answers is for sad men to ask sex questions and girls to ask what shade lipstick to wear. Yeah... silly me...

Some of the questions posted under women's studies make me laugh-- "How can I tell if a girl likes me?"
Oh, is that what my field of study is about?
Hehe.

Women's studies classes are usually great classes because they are so interdisciplinary. The theorists come from all classes and races and and interested in ending inequality in all its forms so i find that the classes promote tolerance and thinking about the world we live in. its awesome

You would be amazed at what categories people place their questions in...
At least the questions relate to women..
Many of us know what it's supposed to mean to well educated folk. Many people on Answers will be well educated, in maybe 10 years...
