Cattails are one of natures best water purifiers.
State and federal parks prohibit foraging because not only can we wipe out a species worldwide, we can disrupt local ecosystems.

I have never heard that they are. Maybe it is in your region only. We have a whole ditch full of them across from work and we see florists over there cutting them occasionally.
