you can wear a tampon for up to 8 hrs so you can sleep in them. But I do usually change my tampon every time I go to the bathroom just so that I don't forget later and leak. It's just a good habit.
When I first used one I was curious and put it in (or tried actually) when I wasn't on my period just for practice. That was very painful and I don't suggest doing that. Just read the directions on the box, there's pictures even. You'll do fine, eventually you will find your own technique that works best for you. Oh, and your first couple times wear a panty liner until you get the feel for correct placement :)

I was scared too the first time I tried them. But they are a lot nicer than pads. No more feeling like you're wearing a diaper! They do not break your hymen like whoever told you that and they are only dangerous if you leave them in for a very long time. If you take the right precautions and insert them correctly you don't even feel them. You can wear them up to 8-10 hours as well. I wouldn't recommend removing them every time you go to the bathroom as this can cause irritation and is pretty unnecessary unless you have a really heavy flow. If this is the case then use a tampon for heavier periods. They shouldn't leak at all. Just follow the directions they give you in the box and you'll be on your way.

Well u know tampons will tear ur hymen so .. i wouldnt recommend it if ur a virgin, now there's directions on the tampon box u have to follow them, i find it im more comfortable with the tampax pearl kind (scented) and they are a godsend. You don't have to change it everytime u go to the bathroom unless u check it and it's full then yes u'll have to change it. It took me a long time the first time cus my friend just handed it to me in an emergency situation, But try it out relax ur muscles, spread ur legs and position it in. good luck

Tampons dont work on me, i dont know why but if i put one on, i still need a pad too. maybe i am putting them on wrong but i dont think thats it. i think some people are just not made for them. it didnt hurt the first time i put one on. i hear they are pretty safe but i did have a friend get toxic shock syndrome from them before, but u just have to change them often in order to be safer, and i dont think u should sleep in them.

Tampons are too dangerous, although I know a lot of women use them, I feel that it is why so many women have problems with their female parts. Walking around with a tube of cotton up your coochie is just not right.

try Playtex or kotex. tampax are very irritating. much cleaner then wearing a pad
i also change everytime i use the bathroom, i don't want to take the chance of an accident.
if properly inserted, you do not feel it at all.
