I think piercing a baby's ear is ridiculous!! I mean, why not just pierce their belly button, nipples, nose, and lip too? Everyone would think THAT would be ridiculous to do on a child, so why aren't ears too? It's cruel to do to a baby. Let them get them peirced when they are OLDER when and if they want to. It's really absurd to say that a baby doesn't feel the pain as much just because she's a baby. It's really that the baby doesn't know what's going on, so then it makes the parents *feel* better since the baby isn't nervous & squalling.
You asked what we thought, so now you have it. I don't apologize if I've offended anyone! Tough titty said the kitty, but the milk tastes the same!

Well, as a parent whose kids had their ears pierced at 5 and 7 years I can tell you it's got to be easier before they get an opinion about whether they want you to clean them. If they don't get cleaned, they get infected and eventually the earrings have to come out and the holse close. Some cultures routinely pierce a baby's ears at birth! As long as there is some method od dealing with tendencies to pull them or get the caught on stuff, hey, why not?

I had my daughter's done at 3 wks. I think that was too young but I don't think 7 mos is too young. I think it all depends on the parent really. Like circumcision, ear piercing is something that probably should be left to the child to decide. But since i had my daughter done so young I can't knock anyone if they do it early.

Too young by what standards? Personal opinion? If so, I dont think so. I had both of my daughters' done at age 2.

As for health-wise: As long as the child has their fiorst round of immunizations, it is fine for them to get their ears pierced.

the younger the baby, the easier it is for the person piercing them... I don't think she is too young... I have taken nieces as young as 1 month old!

I was 3 months when i got my ears pierced and my mom assured me that it was fine...my pediatrician even gave me my first pair of earrings. My daughter was 6 months when i got hers pierced.I think that as long as they don't irritate her and your cousin cleans them regularly then 7 months is old enough. They wouldn't have pierced them if she were too young.

in case you pierce a baby's ears in the previous they turn 8 (or so) you extensively enhance the probability that they could advance hypersensitive reactions. i think of, all and sundry could choose themselves no count if or no longer they want holes of their ears (or everywhere else) or no longer. i could wait till they are sufficiently previous to make the determination themselves. you does no longer placed a tattoo on a toddler the two.

I will not let my daughters get their ears pierced until they are old enough to take care of them. I feel sorry for babies, who's parents put them through that pain. I know as a mother of 2, I have enough to take care of, I don't need to add taking care of new earrings.
