Yep, we went yesterday!

Good points...

Eat as you pick!
Children loved it (killed a good few hours)
Home-made jam to look forward to!
Out in the fresh country air
Good exercise walking up and down, bending and stretching(maybe pushing it here!)

Bad points...

Very hot (at least, it was yesterday) and not much shade
Home-made jam to make
Strawberries are pretty much finished now (but tons of raspberries, blackcurrants, loganberries, gooseberries, redcurrants, etc.) - we found plenty, but they needed eating straight away (at least, that's the excuse we used!)
Last year there were loads of wasps, but didn't see a single one this time. Come to think of it, haven't seen any anywhere yet... Something to do with the weather?

Yes. It was in the early years of my life when my mother took all of us kids to pick blackberries. It was in the backfields of a farm. Giant blackberries in the bucket galore. Sores on the arms and legs and maybe the butt from the thorns though. But it was worth it when the pie and canned fruit and jam were made.

Yes!! You see, I'm from South Dakota, and down there, we harvest all year long! Even if it's hot out, you should wear long pants to avoid scratching between bushes and bugs. Always have disinfectant, as scrapes and cuts happen easily.

Love to go strawberry picking, but the heat is unbearable and you really need sunscreen, water and bug spray!

Veggie picking, yes. There are a TON of U-pick-it farms near my place. :D
