There's a really good one about a guy with a degenerative disorder (forget which one now) that eventually made him loose all ability to walk, talk and finally breath. It was sad but very uplifting and insightful as he goes through all his stages of learing to deal with what's happening to him. There's kind of two books, the first is called "Tuesdays With Morrie" written by his ex student Mitch Albom and the other is his own book, "Morrie: in His Own Words". Give em a go, definitely worth it.

"The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down" by Anne Fadiman.
It's about a Hmong epileptic child living in America and the collision of the cultures on how to treat her. A very interesting read.

Tuesdays with Morrie. It is a very touching book about a former student who reconnects with his ailing professor.
