Blood doesn't "stay inside to long". The reason why it's brownish is because the flow is very low so it takes a little longer before it gets out. As for beeing pregnant, take the test

I did the very same thing and I wasn't pregnant. My period was just late and my hormones were probably the cause of it. Are you always on time each month? If so, you might want to take a test. If not, you are probably okay. Wait a couple days and take a pregnancy test. Good Luck

It doesn't mean you're pregnant. Could be that you've been under extra stress lately or something has changed your normal routine a bit. Of course, if you are frequently late, suffer from an excessive amount of cramping, etc. you should talk to your doctor.

brown blood is old blood. When in doubt, take a test, but it is probably your period.
