There is a day and night simply because God wants to give humans a clear sign and a clear division between work and sleep. There is an argument between theologians that the light is representative of God and that the night is representative of Satan.
In the Bible the division between night and day is important. Jesus correctly prophecised that one of the Disciples, Peter would disown Him three times before the dawn came. Noah was on the Ark for a year, and it was after forty days and nights he released the first of the doves.
As for your idea, it already exists! In many Arctic circle countries such as in Greenland six months of the year are dark, and the other is light. The major problem with solar panels is that they are unreliable, and produce only a fraction of the electricity that traditional non-renewable resources. Continous night would also cause problems- most accidents and road fatalities are caused either on an evening or late at night. Accidents also increase in winter when light doesn't last very long.
I also find it difficult to sleep in light- it affects levels of sleep hormones in the brain. I am also an astronomer- if there was a continous day I couldn't look at the Milky Way and in a continous night I wouldn't be able to do my solar observations. No fun either way...

Well if you lived in the North or South pole, you would get 6 months of light followed by 6 months of darkness, if you were the type to want a never ending day or a never ending night you could switch between the 2 every 6 months. It would be a bit cold though.

Are you being serious with your question here or are you just trying to be funny?
Clearly for such a thing to happen then the Earth would not be moving and thus one side of the earth would be in the sunshine all day and the other in dark the whole time.
One side would heat up the other cool down.
Without the constant changing of sun and dark then things would not be able to grow, basically the human race would die out.

The rotation of the earth is what makes day and night and the seasons and I don't question the reasoning God.
The answer from some of these dweebs goes to show you that God and the way God makes things work is beyond their comprehension.

i think that he wanted to show us that there must be a time for rest and relaxation, hence he created night, and day, so we will do all the other stuff.
Sunlight produces vitamin D which we need, and photosynthesis for plants. In the night when we sleep, plants release oxygen, hence he know exactly what he was doing(relaxing and inhaling fresh air)

Well if we did have a continuous Day we would have more problems with wild fires and water shortages and heat related deaths. The planet isnt designed for a constant sun.

I think it works good the way it is. And what does God have to do with anything. He is just a figment of imagination.
