Americans do not. Some Americans do, but there are 300 million people here compared to around 50 Million in England. If 50 million Americans defended Israel, it would only be less than 17% of our population.

We had difficulty agreeing on a president. What makes you think we have a unified position on Israel?

The American Govt supports Israel..not necessarily the American public.

Israel has been attacked by Hezabollah..a terrorist organization. They control Lebanon..not the Lebanese govt. Anyway, The American govt has given itself the right to wipe out terrorists in the name of safety (they're starting wars all over the place for your own good you know!. Israel is doing the same...wiping out (or trying to) terrorists in the name of national security. This will eventually spread to Syria (a nation George W described as one of the Axis of Evil countries) and that will inevitably draw in Iran (another Axis of Evil). America will not only support that in the UN but probably on the battlefieled as well. Our govt has supported Israeli actions for a long time now and I can't see that ending anytime soon.

Because they can-not do any other, think about it. History prooves it. They are owed a lot, just in respect of the holocost. Consider the ammount of jews in America that will contribute to decisions made in the states. I am not pro-Israeli, but I admire their patriotism, the worm will eventually turn as we say. Their country is surrounded by many aggressive countries, I hope someday we all will stop believing in an eye four an eye and it will make the world a better place four our children. Thats what it is all about. Compassion, morals, love and eduacation for all.

I don't know, it;s irrational. Maybe they're ashamed of anti-semitism in their past.

I think it's more likely that Israel was largely created because of America, and they give it large amounts of money, so the government feels like it is it's creation and it should stand by it. If you think about it, if you were to set something up for someone else you're going to stand by it, as you created it, even if it isn't yours. Also, they are all too aware that they might be blamed for Israels actions, given their role in creating it and their subsidising it.

George Bush's comments on getting Syria to get Hezzbolah were nothing short of scary though.

Israel is the nearest thing to a true democracy in the Near East.

Since the US thinks that democracy is the solution to everything they are natural allies of Israel.

The US position isn't entirely correct of course, but it is better than most of the alternatives.

Why does Hezbollah keep killing and maiming innocent Israelis with their homicide bombers? Why does Hezbollah place its rocket and missile launchers in the residential neighborhoods of innocent Lebanese people?

Israel has put up with enough! It's time they took Hezbollah on and got rid of them once and for all.
