Would you really like to know, I will be more than glad to explain this. Do you have any clue as to how frustrating it is to go shopping and the thing you want is on the top shelf oh about 6 feet up? If you want it you have to climb the shelves to get it. How about when your six foot kid puts the crackers in the cabinet above the fridge and you just look at them. Then you have to ask someone to get them for you or drag a chair across the floor to get it. It can be viewed as one of societies greatest handicaps. Hey I know I am short but don't rub it in OK.

I'm 4'8" and 24 years old...yes...i am very short.....the reason us "short people" get offended is because what you don't realize is that we get it from almost EVERY SINGLE person we come in contact with...and your right....we do know....so why must we be told all the time....it sucks being short and we don't need to be reminded by everyone...not to mention some people are down right rude about it....it sucks going to a bar or a club and having so many people talk crap....YEAH...I KNOW....I'm short....GET OVER IT!!!

The same reason blondes usually hate being called blonde. Because it's a stereotype they don't like to be associated with.
Plus, I'm sure short people get "You're short" a lot. And exactly how you said---they know they're short. They don't need anyone else to tell them.
Some short people don't care, though.

Some people were created perfect. Others God just gave height.
I dont care if people point out that I'm short. I already know that. LOL. I dont have an 'inferiority complex' 'napoleon complex' or even a 'superiority complex'. LOL.
Tall people get it too. 'Hey, hows the weather up there?'

It's the same reason you don't say "hey ur fat", it's rude. Everyone has some sort of body complex, whether it's too skinny, too fat, too short, too tall, etc.. and simply do not want it pointed out. Some people are more sensitive then others.

The same reason ugly people get annoyed when you call them ugly. No offense but don't you think that is a question that you already know the answer to. I mean I am five-four, and I don't want people coming up to me saying "Hey shorty" it rude and unnecessary. I know I am no NBA player but I don't think I qualify as the world shortest person either.

I'm 5' 1" and I love it and never get offended when told I'm short. I would rather be short and cute, than super freakishly tall and ugly :)

I'm short and it doesn't bother me at all. So, I'm not sure. But maybe it is kind of like saying "hey you're fat" to a fat person. If someone is short or fat, they know they are short or fat, why would you feel it neccessary to state that? It doesn't bother me, but I don't know about others.

Your are right! We should all be able to point out flaws in people without them getting offended. It's too bad human nature just doesn't work that way.
