baby shopping is never ending. When using diapers pls dont make habit to use wipes. I have seen new born baby hospitalised for rashes caused by urine. Wipes dont take away urea which clings to skin. Do wash the parts every time baby is wet.

You'll need lots of stuff:
Diapers - lots of them
Diaper wipes - lots of them, too
Baby bottles
Formula - unless you are breastfeeding
Receiving blankets - they are useful for alot of things so get a bunch
Changing pad - useful with the blanket to change baby in an environment you're not sure about.
Crib
Crib sheets - at least 6
Playpen
Baby mobile
Stroller
Diaper bag with lots of pockets - eleminates need for carrying a purse
Oneses - very useful in hot weather, baby won't get as hot
Insulated lunchbox and ice packs - will keep formula and water bottles cold for several hours
Clothes - there's alot of cute outfits out right now
Car seat - the hospital WILL check and make sure it is installed properly
Chew toys
A book called 'What to Expect the First Year' It's a great book, the writers are both parents. It has the advantage of being funny. It can be bought at your local bookstore or grocery store.
The hospital will give you some stuff- and a lot of reading material.
I've probably forgotten alot of items, but I hope this bit helps.

_What to Expect the First Year_ is a very good book, plus the hospital nurses will have starter packs they can give you to help. There's a free magazine called American Baby you can check out, as well as Parents, Parenting, and Child magazines. Babiestoday.com, iVillage.com message boards, and probably some Yahoo groups all have excellent message boards from real moms who can give you some BTDT advice too. Congratulations and best wishes!

Ask other moms.
Diapers, wipes, powder, diaper rash creme, clothing, blankets, bottles if not breastfeeding and formula, pacifiers, more wipes, more diapers, good healthy food for you to eat. And, don't listen to the buy above. My daughter went out the week my grandson was born and showed him off at work and family.

the best book i ever bought pertaining to this subject was The Everything Pregnancy book-I'm sure they also have one for parenting. You can find it just about anywhere. Also search online for websites that tell you what to expect
