what is the HTML code to highlight text?

you can't with just plain html. you have to use style sheets



this text will have a red background color an the text will be white.

Put this tag around the word you want to highlight. you can use whatever color, but for this example i used yellow:

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: yellow">your text
