Geez, he's a tough call. It's too bad he fell just short of 500 homers and 2,500 hits, because those are much catchier numbers than 493 and 2,490.
He never won an MVP, and I don't think he was ever the dominant player at his position. At the same time, though, he was incredibly consistent, and at a high level, for a long period of time. I also like the fact that he had an .886 career OPS, which is excellent for a longevity guy.
I doubt he'll make it, but I wouldn't be offended if he did.
One other note - Someone mentioned that he made the postseason in almost every year, but the reality is that he played in 5 postseasons in a 19-year career.

it'll be close, but i think and hope so. one of the most consistant players ever. also, as a side note, last night was the 13th anniversiary of the press box at old fulton county stadium catching on fire on crime dog's 1st day as a brave.

I think so.
Look at everywhere he went. He was in the post seaston almost every year of his career.
I think at one point he was the only player ever to have (X) amount of RBI for (X) amount of years in a row.
I say YES he is a HOF player
