Okay so back in one of the Superman comics it shows Superman crying and holding Supergirl's dead body and that supergirl looked more like a woman but the Supergirl we have now is a Teenage Girl. What's up with this? were there two Supergirls?

There've been many Supergirls.

The cover you're refering to is Crisis on Infinite Earths #7. That was a year long mini-series back in 1986 that basically rebooted the DC Universe. Before 1986, Supergirl was Superman's cousin, and debuted in the 1960s. She grew up, but kept the Supergirl name.

After 1986, things get confusing. The reboot messed up a lot of continuity, especially for the Legion of Superheroes, so in a Superman story that tried to fix it, they introduced a pocket universe where the Superboy/Supergirl, et al. of the LSH existed. This Supergirl was really a protoplasmic creature and crossed over into the main DC Universe when the pocket universe was destroyed (also killing Superboy). The protoplasmic Supergirl merged with a girl who was dying, so she took on a new identity (some different powers too). She had adventures for several years. And then she went away.

There was another Supergirl after that, but I don't know much about her.

DC had another mini-reboot in the Superman continuity that allows for more Kryptonians to have survived Kryptons destruction. That's where the current Supergirl comes from, and she's a teenaged girl again.

I have been reading comics since 1965...selling comics here in NYC
for the last fifteen years...and still the Supergirl saga makes no sense at all.
wikipedia has what passes for an explanation...which just confuses me more. Good luck.

remember that the two Superman and Supergirl are extraterrestrial beings, distinctive physique shape. for this reason no longer needing to have that undertaking written in comics. she will have a era on the tip of a sentance in spite of the indisputable fact that.
