Less and less as time goes on. The major reason is because when the UN was established. The big selling point to the other nations was the fact that the United States would be part of it. After WWII every free country in the world respected the US more than any other country. As time has passed the US has lost much of its international clout. In recent years Clinton added to the downfall with his irresponsible actions and Bush for his unwarranted aggression against Irag. This of course has made the UN a weaker tool for peace. In short no one respects the United States as they once did. It still serves a purpose but more and more the international scene cares less and less about what the UN says.

Come on man! You know the answer going in, are you looking for a mandate? hahaha....what the US could do with all that $ it flushes down the UN downspout...oh, wait a minute, maybe another war or two ? At least things would get done or you could see the results for yourself.
The UN is about the UN, and not anyone or anything or any nation. If you're in the UN, you are IN. It's all living high on the hog on someone else's dime. Not relevant, but sounds like a great party!

The UN has always been relevant. Without it, there would definately be a whole lot more war. Think about it this way: If the U.S. had listened to the UN they wouldn't have gone to that debacle of a war in Iraq

the UN is relevant to the subject at hand, but it does nothing about it. The UN is not the US undercover, if it was, the UN we have sent peace troops into Iraq as well as throughout the Middle East. The UN is basically nonexistent.

no it is not still relevant. The problem with the UN is the countries that belong to the council don't adhere to the ruling of the UN. They make secret deals and/or just thumb their noses at teh UN sanctions or rulings altogether.

To a certain degree, it is. It was built for the purpose of maintaining order for countries in an international level. But basing on the events unfolding today, the UN seemed irrelevant already and partisan to politics by the key players (US, Israel).

No.
To the person above, UN has no credibility with the US, which is why I consider it irrelevant (as a citizen of the US). That being the case, I don't think it is the US undercover.

Formally the League of Nations. It was really intended to show the Warsaw Pact free nation unity. Well, the Warsaw Pact is gone, so now it's just a debating and meeting center for nations.

Can you name a resolution not backed by the US or Britain that has done anything worthwhile?
