Its not just that books are better than the film though, is it? Something goes horribly wrong when they make a Stephen King film. Its the kiss of death, guaranteed C movie straight to video.
It. Scary book, crap film. And don't get me started on The Stand.

Because its pretty difficult to make a good movie based on a book. Books are much more in depth with your imagination, you get to get into the character's minds.... something you can't do in a movie. If you're a Stephen King fan then yes his books are ten times better than movies based on them. Its just the way it is.

I suggest seeing the movie before you read the book... then you wont know how crappy the movie is.. although a lot of the movies are hard to understand unless you've read the book, like IT, and the TV movie of Desperation.. they would have been a lot better off to make the Regulators instead

The book is always better. Except maybe the stand it is pretty close. But hen if you rented it you would know why. In order to include everything in his book the movie would be extremley long.

Probably the same reason I can't put down a Christopher Moore book. You get into the story and can't wait to see how it ends.

Well it's obvious you are a big fan of Mr.King's work....that could explain it, or maybe you have some kind of subconscious obsession with his books and when you see them in their theatrical form you are repulsed??? Other than that..don't know..but most of the movies s u c k!
