I am 8 weeks pregnant with my first and so excited. When should my first doctor appointment be? At what month do women pregnant for the first time start to show???

call your OBGyn and schedule your first appt. it might be a week or two, and that is just for your pap (if you haven't been checked in a while), examination, blood tests..etc.

as for showing..well, that depends. with my first i showed rather early. around 3 1/2 or 4 months...it was just a tiny bulge...but I noticed, (and so did my jeans! ha ha)

with my second child i didn't show till i was almost 6 months along!
my doctor said that could be for several reasons...your abs stretch and loosen during pregnancy...so after you have the baby..they are a bit "looser" than before the baby not longer or droopy but wider. and so it allows more room for the baby, without "showing" so soon. *kinda hard to explain*.
each baby is different. each pregnancy is different.
it just depends on how YOUR body will react to the baby's growth.
good luck!!

Congrats! Go ahead and schedule your first appointment. Talk with people you know to find a good doctor if you don't have one already. Everyone is different in showing. I outgrew my pants by 12 weeks with a nice lil pudge, but i had a very fat stomach before hand, my sister however was much further along. As soon as do get the tiniest pudge, start thinking of stretchmarks. I put on vitamin E oil and cocoa butter everyday and didn't get a single mark...just don't forget your chest, lower back, and thighs. If you have a curvy build or wider set hips, you may take longer to show, but athletic build or slimmer set hips tend to show sooner of the people I know.

I think your first doctor visit should be right away. the doctor needs to make sure everything is going well with the pregnancy and also start you off with the correct vitamins and pre-natal care possible. this also has a factor regarding your age. if you are in your mid-twenties to mid-thirties, or having difficulties getting pregnant before, the sooner you go see a doctor the better.

now about showing: again this all depends on your body type. if you are skinny you might start showing about your fourth or fifth month. if you are heavy set, it might take longer to show, but by your seventh months every woman shows. also if you wear certain clothing you will show more than others.

regardless, congrads and it is better to have medical help from the beginning than it is to wait.

You should call the doctors. I have had them see me as early as 8 weeks. They will tell you when they want you in. Every pregnancy is different with every person. I did not show with my first until about 3 months. Now pregnant with my fifth, I was pudging out when I took the pregnancy test!!

First off...Congratulations!!!

I didn't show until I was 7 months along. As soon as I found out I was pregnant they scheduled me 2 weeks later for appts.

Women show differently depending on their height, weight, torso size, the way the baby grows, the way the uterus tilts.

I have one friend who is over 250 lbs. She never showed at all. My sister in law showed at 2 months. She is 5ft 2in .100lbs I am 5ft 10in and I gained 15 pounds from week 1 to week 38. Like I said..I didn't show until I was 7 months. I went from flat belly to slightly puffy and then BOOM!!! He popped out. My son ended up being 9 1/2 pounds.

They usually want you in for your first dr apt between 10-12 weeks so that they can check the baby's heartbeat. make sure you are taking either pre natel's or flinstones for the time being. Everyone is different when they start to show, I never started showing till I was about 17 weeks along.
