don't let it get to you! getting up in front of people takes balls so don't beat yourself up too much. maybe practice a bit more first, especially as you said it's a new song. happens to the best of us. even comedians forget their own punchline sometimes.
the only thing you can do is get back on the horse. it was only 1 occasion and you can bet you won't forget the words again! and if you do .... then just don't sing the song onstage anymore. if you wanna be a successful artist, you need a pretty thick skin. good luck!!

Like most entertainers you should avoid the excessive use of alcohol and drugs before performing. This has ruined the likes of many in this field and you're no exception.
Didn't do drink or drug? Then you were unprofessional for not memorizing your own lyrics. Give up singing as this looks to be a problem for you.

Courage you alraedy have. Anyone that might give you a hard time is either shallow or not confident in thier own abilities so they down grade others. No matter what you think, You have accomplished so much. Failure is thos that sit in the wings and don't try, you are already above that. Try again and again and again and when you get there, no words can explain the feeling. I'll help you if you need to accomplish this goal. good luck Michael ps been there, but in public speaking

Yeah my double cast for this school play forgot her lines to this one song, so she just started humming. Everyone could kind of tell that wasn't supposed to happen, but the audience forgot it by the end. True, she didn't write the play, but still. That sucks.

it happens all the time...don't worry about it, or it will get worse....put it outta yer head right now....it's called a brain fart. and it happens to every musician... I've sang and played bass for twenty some years, and I frogot the first verse to Sweet Home Alabama this weekend, and I have sang that sone a million times...it's just a brain art, don't worry about it.
