Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but I have to ask. I live in suburban Detroit but have lived IN Detroit and within spitting distance of the city my entire life and no matter what White Castle it is nor what time I go, I rarely (1 in 10) get my order in under 20 minutes.

This includes locations on Woodward in the New Center Area, Woodward just North of 8 mile, Woodward and 13 mile, S. of Big Beaver on John R, Telegraph at 9 mile, 13 mile and Van Dyke....the list goes on.

This counts both drive-thru and walk-up although wait time tends to be much greater in the drive-thru. And length of line is also not a factor, for instance last night I was in line at 1:04am and I received my food at 1:36am, there were two cars ahead of me. In that time, we counted more than 5 cars leave and at least 3 drive around the building complaining about the wait (wasn't the first time at this Castle and common at the others).

I can't imagine why anyone would wait twenty minutes, for whatever is served at White Castle. I have heard you either love it or hate it. My opinion is of the latter. The food is seriously not considered food is it?
Maybe they get so surprised that someone actually stopped and ordered something from the menu, caught them off-guard and it took them a while to recooperate. lol. I suspect poor management.
Have you ever seen the conditions those people have to work in. Do the people look like they are sanitary? I stopped at the one in Kokomo, IN. I walked out. The place did not have a.c. The workers looked sweaty, it made me gag to think they were actually allowed to prepare items for consumption by humans. Not to mention the grill looked filthy. Their workspace was close to non-existent. Yuck!!!!

The help must be bad or they are very busy. I go to the White Castles on Grand River and 8 Mile and the other one is on Elizabeth Lake Road and Telegraph (new Summit Place Mall) and had no problems. Also, around lunchtime or dinnertime is the worst wait at a fast food restaurant. Try going a little earlier or a little later. YUM.

Sometimes because of its popularity.

Sometimes because of reverse racism (I was ignored, then given major attitude and the only reason that could come up with was my skin color - I did not care - its not like a black person was never treated bad by a white and people sometimes have bad days).

Sometimes because of poor management or because somebody did not show up for work and screwed up the whole system.

I like the frozen ones except that a 6 pack is not enough.
